Death Notice

A.B. “Scotty” Mitchell

With saddened hearts, the family of Scotty Mitchell announces his passing on Sunday November 18th 2012 at the Hospice Niagara at the age of 71.

Loving husband of Lorraine “Lori” (Baccus) Mitchell. Beloved father of Michael (Darlene) Mitchell, of Welland, Brenda Guay (Don Ellig), of Windsor, and Cory (David) Cooley, of N.Y.S.. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Robert, son of Michael and Darlene, Brandon, son of Brenda Guay, and Kelly and Owen, daughter and son of Cory and David Cooley.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Alexander Burton Sr. and Catherine “Kitty” Mitchell, his son-in-law Daniel Guay, as well as his beloved hunting dogs “Pepper” and “Sam”.

Scotty worked for General Motors for over 30 years.

He was a vital member of a number of associations including: Long Point Waterfowl Association, Ontario Association of Anglers and Hunters, life time member of the National Skeet Shooting Association and New York State Skeet Shooting Association were he served as Chief Referee for 14 years, the Fin, Feather and Fur Conservation Club(3F Club), as well as the Ilion Fish and Game Club.

Visitation will be at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, 827 East Main Street Welland, on Saturday November 24th, from 2pm to 5pm. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 5pm. If desired, donations to the Doug Heitman Foundation or the Hospice Niagara will be greatly appreciated by the family.
