Club representatives and NYSSA members:
• Wishing to think “outside the box.”
• Wishing to expand the number of one-day shoots in NY.
• Wishing to increase the number of shoots available for 12-gauge only shooters.
• Wishing to increase the number of NYSSA member clubs.
We fight each year to maintain the number of shoots and shooters in our great game. We tend to forget where we all started- most with one gun. Yet, opportunities for one-gun shooters are few and far between.
To add to the opportunities, would your club consider hosting a shoot as part of a one-day marathon where shooters traveled between geographically close clubs to shoot targets (200-300), finishing with a banquet and awards with Lewis Class available for each club and the total targets?
Think:
• Dansville, Conesus Lake, RB, 4 Point, Outlet (the “390 Challenge”)
• Addison, Corning, Sullivan Trail (the Southern Tier Marathon)
• Dewitt, Fulton, Camillus (The ‘Cuse)
• Branchport, North Seneca, South Seneca, Interlaken (The Finger Lakes Challenge)
• Jamestown, Big Tree, ?
• Hamburg, Eden, 3F (The Niagara Open)
Wait you say. Some of these clubs aren’t current members. Well, maybe it benefits them to join. A proposal is also in front of the NSSA to allow a sponsor club for an event like this, so not all clubs would have to be a member. More info will be shared as it becomes available.
If your club is interested in discussing this more, shoot me an email ([email protected])!
